We’ll start our sporting calendar down under, where we’ll be offering our field acquisition units at three major Australian-hosted events. First we’ll be putting our award winning LU500 to work at the Asia Cup, an international football/soccer tournament, organized by the Asian Football Confederation, in January.  The tournament includes teams from throughout Asia, including Australia, China, South Korea and many others.

Next, we’ll be offering units to cover the 103rd Australian Open. The Australia Open, first played in 1905, became a Grand Slam tournament in 1925 and is the first of the four Majors played every year. Later in the year, we’ll also be supporting the other Grand Slam tournaments, the French Open, Wimbledon and the US Open.

Finally, taking place across both Australia and New Zealand, we’ll be providing service for the Cricket World Cup. The Cricket World Cup was first hosted in 1975 in England, this year, the 11th incarnation of the tournament has an estimated television audience of over one billion people. The event will span 14 cities in Australia and New Zealand over the course of a month, making high mobility of coverage imperative.

We’ll also be covering several major sporting events throughout the rest of the world, including our 6th Super Bowl in Phoenix Arizona, the Alpine World Ski Championship in Colorodo, the St Andrews Golf Tournament in the UK as well as the world renowned Tour de France bicycle race.

Much of our news coverage this year will come from Europe where we’ll see several international political meetings including the World Economic Forum, G7 Leaders Summit in Davos, Switzerland, G20 Summit in Turkey and the UN Climate Change Conference in Paris, France.

We’ll also be covering two major European elections this year. After a period of economic decline in Greece, they will be holding early elections this month. Later in the year we’ll also be offering support for the UK general elections which will take place May 7th.  Units and support will be available throughout both countries in the days surrounding the elections.

During April we’ll be looking forward to another exciting event in the UK, the birth of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s second child. We saw very successful coverage of the birth of Prince George and look forward to offering support as the country welcomes his younger sibling.

In addition to our news and sports coverage, we’ll be offering support at many major cultural events around the globe.

First we’ll be covering the annual Snow Festival in Sopporow, Japan. Every year artists from all over the world flock to Japan to build around 400 snow and ice sculptures to awe visitors. The festival includes an official international competition as well as a popularity contest and a presiding Ice Queen.  This festival is one of the most popular winter events in Japan, attracting over 2 million visitors every year.

spring festivalIn China we will be providing units for the upcoming Spring Festival or Chinese New Year. The Spring festival celebrates the turn of the year on the Chinese calendar. This year, a year of the Goat, starts on February 19. Customs, varying throughout China, include fireworks, dragon dances, temple fairs and other public celebrations as well as familial traditions.

In addition to various cultural festivals, we’ll be supporting several film events this year, namely two of the biggest events in the entertainment industry, the 2015 Academy Awards and the Cannes Film Festival.

The Academy Awards, or Oscars, will take place in Los Angeles in February, drawing over 40 million viewers. The annual Oscars ceremony awards some of the best names in film and hosts many of the biggest stars in Hollywood and the rest of the world.  The famed red carpet pre-show displays some of the most glamourous and occasionally outlandish attire in the business as well as gives networks a chance to connect their viewers with the celebrities attending.

The Cannes Film Festival in France previews new international films of all genres. This invitation only event was founded in 1946 and has since become one of the most prestigious film events in the world.
