LiveU Launches LU600 – The New Standard for IP Bonding

September 8

LiveU's new portable unit, the LU600, offers exceptional video quality, reliability, speed, video performance, low-latency, and more

With a global installed base of over 2,000 Tier 1 media customers in more than 80 countries, LiveU announced today the release of the LU600, its powerful new portable transmission unit for global newsgathering and live sports and events coverage. Reaching new levels of excellence, the LU600 delivers the highest video quality and bitrate in the market (up to 20Mbps), and is set to offer the fastest file transfer (80Mbps), lowest delay (0.5 sec) and 100Mbps high-speed bonded Internet connection. The new LU600 is field upgradable to H.265 HEVC, continuing LiveU’s adoption of the latest encoding standards and providing support for ‘Live & Store’ using the same video card.

Tailored to the needs of mobile journalists, the LU600 offers a new streamlined user interface, with an ultra-responsive 5.0 inch capacitive touchscreen. The unit comes in a specially designed smart backpack, with improved usability, remote control functionality and easy access to display, controls and interfaces.

Samuel Wasserman, LiveU’s CEO, said, “LiveU is recognized worldwide as the leading brand for live IP video transmission. At the recent Rio Olympics, LiveU was seen most prominently at the games, with over 300 units used by the world’s leading broadcasters and nearly 6,000 hours of live streaming. In the new LU600, every facet of our system has been improved to deliver unparalleled performance and extremely low latency, matching satellite performance. We’ve designed it to be the reference IP bonding solution for many years. Available immediately, we’re confident that the LU600 offers the most robust and versatile IP bonding solution today.”

  • The LU600 will also include the following range of new capabilities and features:
  • 30 seconds boot-up time
  • High-efficiency internal patented antennas, ensuring the ultimate reliability in any network conditions
  • 16 GB internal storage and support for external micro SDXC 256GB cards
  • LTE Advanced support
  • Longest-lasting internal battery (4 hours of live transmission) and support for industry-standard external batteries, with hot swap capabilities.

Weighing around 1kg (2.2 lbs), the LU600 includes LiveU’s integral LRT™ (LiveU Reliable Transport) protocol for optimized video performance using adaptive bit rate and forward error correction technology. LRT™ enables reliable, low delay live video streaming over non-guaranteed IP networks.

LiveU owns the patent for cellular bonding used today for remote news gathering in the US, Europe, China and other countries. All LiveU products are based on this sixth-generation patented technology.
