The Challenge

The French-based “Groupe de Secours Catastrophe Français (GSCF)” is operating at catastrophe scenes worldwide to limit damage and save lives. As the disaster epicenters are often difficult or  impossible to access for the staff, GSCF deploys drone cameras to deliver aerial video feeds from hidden places. For faster response in mission-critical scenarios, GSCF was looking for a solution to live transmit the video signal directly from the drone to a control room.

The Solution

GSCF chose LiveU’s light-weight streaming solution Solo to steadily deliver HD drone shots from various catastrophe scenarios, e. g. in the aftermath of the 2020 explosions at the port of Beirut (Lebanon). Combining up to four cellular connections for robust live streams, LiveU Solo lets the GSCF staff view the drone camera signals from a safe distance while the low delay mode ensures a timely first response whenever needed.

The humanitarian firemen of the French Catastrophe Rescue Group (G.S.C.F.) have been working for more than a year with a LiveU unit to get video feedback from drones, either on firefighters command centers or during emergency and development missions abroad. The LiveU unit fully satisfies our needs.
