LiveU’s LU600 HEVC Solution Chosen by TVBS Taiwan for News & Sports Coverage

During field testing, LiveU’s LU600 HEVC solution delivered the highest video quality and reliability at a low bit-rate transmission

Taiwan’s leading national broadcaster TVBS Media Inc. has selected LiveU’s flagship LU600 HEVC solution for live newsgathering and sports coverage, deploying multiple LU600 HEVC units around the country to cover breaking and developing news and different kinds of sports events. TVBS has already used LiveU to cover the Tour de Taiwan cycling tournament and New Taipei City Wan Jin Shi Marathon, with camera operators streaming live from the back of a motorbike. Service and support are being provided by LiveU’s local partner, Ntype.

TVBS tested leading cellular transmission brands for quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness and LiveU led in every category. Specifically, the LU600 HEVC solution showed greater stability and reliability and the best video quality in low bit-rate transmission conditions. TVBS found that LiveU’s backpack has a good design and is very functional, for example, it has the longest battery life of 4 hours and is the only one with a rain cover. LiveU Central, LiveU’s unified management platform, also proved to be more intuitive and easier to use.
Yaal Eshel, LiveU’s VP Sales, said, “We are very proud that TVBS, the leading national broadcaster in Taiwan, has selected LiveU technology. TVBS performed professional tests of the technology in extreme use cases and we’re happy to be able to meet their strict requirements. We are committed to continuing providing innovative products and close support to our customers in Taiwan.”

LiveU’s full range of live IP video solutions will also be on show at LiveU’s and Mudu’s joint booth at BIRTV 2018 – Hall 6, Booth 6005.

About TVBS Media

TVBS Media Inc. began its broadcast through satellite DTH and local cable systems on September 28, 1993. As the very first privately owned broadcaster, it broke the decades-long oligopoly of the three state-owned terrestrial television stations in the Taiwan market. The debut of TVBS marked a new beginning of a diverse, unfettered, and competitive media era.

“Innovation, Justice, Vitality and Sustainability” are the core values of TVBS Media Inc. It has set several milestones, including the establishment of Taiwan’s first entertainment variety channel, TVBS-G, and the country’s first 24-hour news channel, TVBS-News, providing both an abundance of entertainment programming as well as real-time news information. TVBS Media Inc. has completely changed the way Taiwanese viewers watch television, giving them an entirely new perspective.

In order to expand its sphere of influence, TVBS Media Inc. created Taiwan media’s first-ever overseas channel, TVBS Asia. This in turn led to the formation of Taiwan’s only all-news television channel based in Singapore. Singapore TVBS-News broadcasts worldwide around the clock, bringing the most exciting content to Chinese speakers around the globe.
