The nonprofit, SEAL KIDS, is hosting its first annual ‘Swim Jam’ fundraiser featuring a 5k ocean swim and skydiving presentation from six Navy Seals. The event will raise funds for the organization whose mission is to provide academic and developmental support for the children of Navy Seals. In a collaborative effort between Stream, a leading live-first online video platform (OVP) and LiveU, the leader in live video streaming for TV, mobile, online and social media, the entire event will be live streamed and available for viewing on sealkids.org at 5EST October 14th. Online audiences will be able to experience all of the action including a live view from the skydiving team as they descend to the ground.
“We are excited for the opportunity to live stream our (flags colors) jumping from the helicopter. It provides a unique experience that most people never see live. Live streaming directly to our website gives us huge advantage as we can gain more insight into our audience and seamlessly collect donations,” said Troy Pusateri, Director of SEAL KIDS.
The live stream will provide several different angles and vantage points so viewers can choose what they want to see. Two out of six of the Navy Seals will have a LiveU Solo plug-and-play encoder strapped to them, allowing a GoPro device to capture the video. The descent will produce video footage that will be pushed to Stream’s cloud-based solution allowing for distribution. SEAL KIDS hope to raise over $50,000 during this event.
“We are excited to be powering this live skydive to support SEAL KIDS. Combining our technology with LiveU allows us to live stream from this unique perspective using the company’s cellular bonded technology to ensure connectivity is solid, the stream is reliable, and the quality is great,” said Will Jamieson, CEO of Stream.
“Using live video is a unique way to connect with an audience and raise awareness,” said Claudia Barbiero, VP of Marketing at LiveU. “Add in the excitement of going live from places you never could before, like while skydiving, you see how there are no more limits for getting creative with live online video. Our collaboration with Stream.live provides the high-quality, reliable streaming and platform for the event, so the focus can be on the dynamic content and the SEAL KIDS mission.”
