ENEX Implements LiveU Matrix Ad Hoc Channel Expansion to Increase Distribution of Live Coverage for Major Global News Events

The news agency, which services members worldwide, used the extended LiveU Matrix system for the first time to increase feeds for the 2025 Papal Conclave

News agency ENEX, a long-term LiveU customer, has expanded its use of LiveU’s Matrix cloud-native IP video distribution platform with the addition of an ad hoc channel for delivery of major global news events. This was used for the first time to increase distribution of live coverage of the 2025 Papal Conclave. ENEX, which traditionally uses LiveU Matrix to deliver regular live feeds via three fixed channels to its alliance of over 50 global commercial news members, wanted to scale distribution capacity for this major world news broadcast. The LiveU Matrix ad hoc expansion can be implemented at any time providing ENEX and its members with a fast, flexible content sharing solution that can be utilized as and when needed to meet the growing demands for more cost-efficient, dynamic live news content.

The Papal Conclave, which took place across two days from 7th-8th May, was watched by millions of viewers around the world in multiple languages. ENEX members were able to grab feeds across the weekend as the cardinals completed the election process, which culminated in the famous white smoke signal from the Sistine Chapel chimney. LiveU Matrix enables high-quality, low-latency live feeds to be shared, received and recorded in the cloud, accessible directly from a browser without the need for a costly satellite or fiber infrastructure. The LiveU Matrix expansion follows the recent renewal of ENEX‘s two-year contract with LiveU for a third time.

Adrian Wells, Managing Director, ENEX, said, ”LiveU is a market leader in live delivery. Most of our news media partners have decided themselves to utilize LiveU technology as part of their newsgathering capability. It makes perfect sense for ENEX to work with LiveU to leverage their solutions through the Matrix delivery network. LiveU continues to be a highly-valued and trusted technology collaborator.”

Zion Eilam, VP Sales, EMEA, added, “LiveU is a trusted ENEX partner and is proud to be part of the ENEX Innovation Exchange, where technology providers and broadcasters collaborate to deliver future-ready solutions. We fully understand ENEX‘s requirements for flexibility, agility and adaptability to meet the evolving demands of the global news environment whilst consistently delivering first-class content distribution services to its members. Following the success of our innovation with ENEX, we are seeing growing adoption of similar large-scale IP distribution initiatives among other leading broadcasters, including within key European public broadcasting frameworks. LiveU Matrix is rapidly becoming the trusted solution for IP video distribution, enabling seamless scalability and operational efficiency. Through Matrix, LiveU technology is now present in nearly all major broadcasters across Europe and beyond, cementing its role as the backbone of next-generation live content distribution.”
