Mater Dei High School Graduation Reaches Wider Audience thanks to LiveU Studio Cloud Production Workflow

Background
The Mater Dei graduation ceremony is one of the school’s most important annual events, bringing together hundreds of students and families. To make the celebration accessible to families who couldn’t be there across the US, the school wanted to live stream the ceremony with the same look and feel and reliability as a professional broadcast.
Challenge
The production team needed a solution that could manage multiple camera feeds inside a large venue, while keeping the workflow simple and reliable. The setup required seamless live switching, professional on-screen graphics, and integrated commentary. At the same time, as a high school program, Mater Dei had to work within a limited budget, making it essential to find a solution that delivered broadcast-grade quality without the cost and complexity of traditional production systems
The Solution
Using LiveU Studio, the team created and deployed a cloud-based production workflow in minutes. Built-in lower thirds and Tagboard graphics, supported by Social180 Group, were added to enhance the show, while the team communicated with each other through LiveU Audio Connect.
To cover the entire show, a LiveU portable field encoder with manned cameras capturing the key moments of the ceremony. In addition, two additional PTZ cams provided direct feeds into the IMAG to focus on student diploma handoffs, ensuring seamless coverage of every angle.
The Results
The Mater Dei graduation ceremony was successfully streamed live to the school’s Vimeo channel with broadcast-level quality and zero production hiccups. Families and friends who could not attend in person were able to share the experience in real time. The smooth integration of graphics and multiple camera feeds elevated the production far beyond a standard school stream.
Beyond this single event, the project highlighted the potential of LiveU solutions for Mater Dei’s broader Film & Production Program, which aims to prepare students for broadcast and production work post-graduation. Students involved in the ceremony gained hands-on exposure to professional tools and workflows that they will likely interact with in the real-world, setting the stage for future sports coverage, traveling productions, and expanded learning opportunities.
